Авторы теории утверждают, что теория «большого взрыва» основанная на эффекте Доплера, ошибочна.
Эффект Доплера объясняет, что воспринимаемое увеличение или уменьшение частоты волн света, звука или других волн зависит от того, как источник этих волн и наблюдатель движутся навстречу друг другу.
Но авторы исследования полагают, что красное смещение вовсе не означает разбегание галактик. Они придерживаются несовместимой с теорией «большого взрыва» гипотезой, гипотезой старения света.
